Karen Vandiver is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Texas Approved Supervisor with extensive experience.  In addition, she is the Founder of Mindful Meditation Training Institute and MBCT and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She now offers TeleHealth services as well.  She has trained in Systemic, Strategic, and Bowen Family Systems as well as with Imago therapy.  Her training in EMDR added to her already successful outcomes with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and panic attacks. As a Certified Hypnotherapist with the National Guild she has had success with behavioral issues along with peak performance. Her ability to utilize a unique and creative approach is individualized for each person and has led to real results with other issues as well which includes  insomnia, negative thinking, depression, anxiety , and panic attacks. 


Karen has created inpatient and outpatient treatment programs for inpatient hospitals and outpatient treatment centers.  She has provided numerous presentations at multiple military bases on PTSD and Combat Stress for which she has received several awards.  She also provides lectures at universities on Jungian Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin's Doctoral Counseling Theories Class, Texas A&M Central Texas, and while visiting in Turkey, at Bogacisi University in Istanbul.


She is trained in Kriya Yoga and is a longtime meditator trained in multiple approaches holding Meditation Retreats for Students as well as as New Healthworks Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program.  She is professionally trained in other Mindfulness practices as well as MBCT whose success is supported by The National Institutes of Health for improving brain function by repairing neuronal connections, Creating new brain cells and maintaining increased neuroplasticity in the brain so that one maintains brain funtion.


She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of PTSD Recovery Centers of America, Songwriting with Soldiers, The C.G.Jung Society of Austin, Texas, The International Piano Institute of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Caiptal Area Mental Health Center of Austin, The Woment's Center of Austin, and Waco.Center for Youth, 


She has written articles for Austin M.D. Magazine, Enjoy Whole Health as Psychology Columnist, and Santa Fe Sound Board Music Magazine.
